West Lancashire Shopmobility opened on 5th September 2000. It took two years of hard work and determination by a dedicated group of people to open Shopmobility in Ormskirk. They were assisted by West Lancashire District Council who contributed a lot of time and the efforts of their staff were of great help. The outcome of all this hard work, is a purpose built Shopmobility that was built by Pochin the builders in Two Saints Place Retail Park, Park Road, Ormskirk. Without the extraordinary generosity of Pochin and West Lancashire District Council, West Lancashire Shopmobility Ltd. probably would not be open at this time.

In September 2002, a second Shopmobility in Skelmersdale was opened. This second centre serves the Concourse and the immediate surrounding shopping area. After its first year of operation, Skelmersdale Shopmobility had hired out over 6000 pieces of mobility equipment to its members proving the need for the service. My sincere thanks go to every individual and company who took part in putting West Lancashire Shopmobility on the map.
